Rockingham

Rockingham Street is a student housing scheme in London I've been working on at MaccreanorLavington in 2021. During that time I had a chance to make these visuals, originally earlier in the process as an addition to a pre-application presentation.

Over time the building changed form and we would use those images as a reliable source of information how these updates impact the overall appearance. Replacing the model with a new one, applying different facade layout/material was extremely efficient, which allowed us to test multiple options of even most intricate details. In contrast to a flat bay study drawing, we could see those changes in 3d as a rather realistic representation. Verified views, done by an external company for the planning application, presented the building in a very similar way as my own images and proved that these ones were quite successful in presenting the project in an accurate way.

Some of the most debated topic was the type of brick used. Initially we presented a blue, glossy one, but after several rounds of conversations and consultations with the client, planners and many other involved in the project, we ended up with a mix of red and white bricks.

Another critical topic was the narrow path between the building and the railway tracks. The image I present below was created to show to the planners that, despite it's size, this pedestrian street can be a valuable and lively public space.
